Your Inquiries, Answered
What is the history of Villa Nord?
Our story began in 1837 when Arnt and Ingeborg Flengstad opened Hôtel du Nord, the city's very first hotel. Today, we honor this legacy through sincere craftsmanship and a commitment to the genuine hospitality that changed Trondheim's social life nearly two centuries.
“Villa Nord” - Why the name?
With only 51 rooms tucked away in our Trondheim town villa, the name Villa felt less like a choice and more like a homecoming. But every home needs a lineage. We looked back to the original Hôtel du Nord, choosing Nord as a quiet homage to the people and the moments that first breathed life into these walls.
What kind of rooms will you be offering in this historic building?
Within our walls, no two stays are ever quite the same. Each of our 51 guest rooms is a personal gallery, individually curated with original works and limited-edition pieces from the artists of our region.
Whether you find yourself in a Standard hideaway or one of our expansive Suites, the experience remains tactile and grounded. From the weight of the rich textiles to the lines of our custom-crafted furniture, every detail is designed to be felt as much as seen.
What is there to see and do near the hotel?
Set within the storied neo-Gothic townhouses of Dronningens gate, our home sits at the intersection of Trondheim’s past and its pulse. We are just a short, thoughtful walk from the spires of Nidarosdomen and the city’s most spirited cultural corners. Your stay with us extends far beyond our front door. Your room key is designed to be your "Key to the City", a personal invitation to explore hand-picked museums and tucked-away art experiences that we, as locals, hold dear
Will there be a restaurant?
Our dining room is built upon a milestone in Trondheim’s history. It was here, under the roof of our predecessor Hôtel du Nord, that Arne Fjeldstad introduced the city’s very first à la carte experience. He broke the mold, trading the predictable for the personal, and bringing a new sense of liberty to the table.
What can I expect for breakfast?
We carry the torch of those who came before us, honoring the timeless art of the host. At Villa Nord, breakfast is a personal affair, defined by the quiet elegance of tableside service and the very best of our local produce.
